Decisions

Write the decision down. All of it.

The one-page template I give every client on day one.

· 4 min read · · Decided no. 110

A decision that is not written down will be made again. Not because people are careless, but because memory is generous: everyone remembers the version that suits them.

The page has five lines. What we decided. Who owns it. By when. What we considered and rejected. When we will look at it again.

The fourth line matters most. It stops the same alternatives from being proposed in three months by someone who was not in the room.

Keep the pages in one place, in date order, readable by everyone who has to live with them. That is the whole system.
